Ionelia Taranu personal expertise relevant for the Cost Action Feed for Health is in the feed/food field and mainly in the domains of nutrition and immunology.
Her research work is substantiated in 44 scientific publications, mainly dealing with:

  • Impact of feed quality on animal health: research focus on the effect of feed contaminants (mycotoxins) and feed composition on immune response (inflammation and cytokine network)
  • improvement of feed quality: research focus on the optimisation of dietary vitamin supplementation in farm animal.

In the context of her postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Pharmacology-Toxicology, from INRA Toulouse, she had the opportunity to get familiarized with working in an international team within a FP5 (HEALTHY PIG GUT) European project and gave herthe opportunity to be the local coordinator of the only research FP6 project (STREP) in Priority 5:  Food Quality and Safety (FEED FOR PIG HEALTH) in Romania The main goal of this project was to evaluate the effect of some plant extracts and other natural substances as alternatives to antibiotics in reducing losses from post-weaning infection and improving productivity in pigs.

She is also member of the INCDBNA team participating in another two FP6 projects: „Healthy feed for safety”, SEEFOOD) and FEED-TO-FOOD.

Between 2001-2004 and 2006-2009 she hase been the local coordinator of the bilateral projects: Network research training between France and Central and Eastern Europe, BRANCUSI (France and Romania) and ECO-NET (France, Romania, Slovenia and Poland) focus on mycotoxins and their effect on immune response.
